S1, K1, PSSO is a left-slanting decrease. It is typically paired with k2tog (knit 2 together) to form the decreases for mitten, hat, or glove tops, or for sock toes.
(These instructions assume that the knitter is right-handed. Left-handed knitters will probably want to reverse the directions.)
The placement of the yarn is emphasized in the pictures rather than the placement of the right hand.
1. Slip the stitch on the left needle to the right needle as if to knit (BUT do NOT
knit the stitch). Knit the next stitch. |
2. Pass the slipped stitch over the knit stitch. |
3.
A set of three, s1,k1,psso decreases. Notice
the left slant produced by these decreases. S1,k1,psso decreases are used at
the right end of a knitted article. The left slant pulls the stitches to
the middle. |
